Maverick Star Quilt (for the cat)

When I bought my Poang Chair, I wanted to make some mini quilts to cover it to help control the cat hair. I did finish a small one that fits on the footstool. The "rules" were that I could not buy any new fabric - it all had to come from my stash!


I used this Maverick Star tutorial. I like this block because it is scrappy and I didn't have to have all the points matching - I am not that precise a quilter so don't look too closely to see if the corners match!


It took a few weeks, but now it certainly is the cat's favorite resting place. If you look closely, I'm sure you will see a nice overlay of cat hair!

My Cat and the Ikea Chair?

I've been concerned that the new chair would become a cat hair magnet. But so far, the cat seems much more interested in the paper that was packed in the box. This is her new favorite spot to snooze. I think I will leave the paper out for as long as it makes her happy!

Cozy Cat

A couple days ago I set out my vintage quilt in the living room. It only took minutes for the cat to decide that was her new bed. And the new depository for all of her cat hair. Thus the quilt has been removed for its own protection!


Meanwhile, several weeks ago she decided that the top of the TV was a great perch to hang out! She never has been one to jump onto high places, but all of a sudden this spot has become her favorite place. I put this tray on top of the TV thinking that would keep her off - oh, no, it has become a cozy place to curl up. At least I know where I can find her!

So why did my cat Monet suddenly discover
this basket in the end table
(that has been around for years)
and decide that it would make
a cozy spot to watch
what is happening
in the living room?
(I am surprised she has room to squish on top of
the multitude of magazine clippings
that are stuffed in the basket!)

the Afghan War

I was amused by this post in Posy Gets Cozy last week. I think her cat has been talking to my cat. Last week when the temps dropped below zero, I cuddled up on my sofa on my afghan. Each time I got up from the sofa, I would return to find the cat curled up in my spot. Back and forth, every day, over and over.

In fact there she sits right now all nice and snug on the afghan. As I watch her from the cold recliner. Surrender. The Afghan War is over. And the cat has won.
