Question: What's blue, built like a tank, and makes a mean batch of bars?
Answer: My new cobalt blue Kitchen Aid Mixer!
While doing my baking last Thanksgiving, my 25 year old Oster Kitchen Center mixer/blender/shredder/chopper made several awful clunks and gave up the ghost! So for Christmas I asked for a new mixer and my brother gifted me with this beauty!
I must say I have "mixed" feelings about the mixer. I finally tested it out on the bar recipes I made a week ago and it does take some getting used to. I wish I could get a spatula into the bowl and scrape it down while the mixer is going - it bugs me that I have to stop, scrape, and start all the time. And I still have flour flying all over the place every time I add it! (Maybe someone out there has suggestions for me! ) But it does have great power! And I'm excited to have dough hooks again - the ones I had for my old mixer broke years ago and I couldn't get replacements. And I do feel like I've joined the "official mixer of the Food Network" club! So I'm sure with time I'll learn to like it "batter."
