Fota Island Resort, Ireland

Our Apple Distinguished Educator conference was held at the gorgeous Fota Island Resort.  It is a lovely modern hotel with all the luxury amenities that you could want.

It is located in the lush green Irish countryside about 20 minutes or so from downtown Cork.  The only disadvantage to staying here is that it is not particularly convenient for sightseeing if you didn't have a car.  (It cost about 25 euros to get by cab to the city center where went to pick up tours.)  Other than that, it was a perfect place to stay.  I didn't have a chance to take advantage of the golf course or the spa, but both looked wonderful!

The rooms were very comfortable.  Nice cushy beds with soft pillows. (The duvets were very warm, I wished the beds had also had a bed sheet so you had a cooler covering.)  There were lots of outlets into which we could plug all our techy gadgets!

I loved the bathroom, especially the walk in shower with rain shower head.  There were nice toiletries, fluffy towels and robes.

The morning breakfast buffet was spectacular!  Lots of wonderful pastries, smoked salmon, eggs, cereals,  and really good sausages.  

The best part of breakfast, however, was when we discovered we could also order off the menu.  The waffles were the best I have ever had - real Belgian waffles with little crunchy bits of sugar.  

The rest of our meals were equally good.  Most were served buffet style, but we had one very nice meal served banquet style.  

The best part of our stay here was the wonderful service by the staff.  They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and to help us in any way needed.  They helped us with planning touring, printing maps, and finding restaurants.  Totally classy people at a totally classy resort1
