We stayed at the lovely Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo while in Venice. It was quite easy to get to - just a short walk from the San Stae vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal. You cross this small bridge to reach the front door.
Inside the front door into the small courtyard where breakfast was served each morning. So pretty!
Our room was quite lovely and felt "Venitian." The beds were narrow twins but comfortable. Interestingly, the TV had a gazillion channels, but not one in English.
The bathroom was very modern and huge. We were on the main floor of the hotel and my guess is that it was set up as a handicap restroom.
This is the place I will always dream about having breakfast - a lovely courtyard filled with geraniums and hydrangeas and statues and lace covered tables. Just about as perfect as you can get!
They brought a basket to your table with the most wonderful warm croissants ever! Crispy with a bit of sugar on top and orange marmalade inside. They gave you one per person, but I could have eaten a dozen of them! They also had fruit, cereal, yogurt, and juices for breakfast as well as tea, expresso, and cappuccino.
Once again, the people at the desk were most helpful to give directions and restaurant recommendations and spoke perfect English. On our last day, we stored our luggage and headed out to tour. Our train left in the evening. It was hot and we were exhausted, so we returned to the hotel just to rest and cool off for an hour or so before we headed to the train station. Not only did they have a bathroom where we could refresh ourselves, but gave us a pitcher of ICE water without us even asking! No one gives you ice in Italy, so it was so thoughtful to think that we might like ice water. It's attention to little things like that made this hotel such a special place to stay while in Venice!
