Well, I promised to start telling you a little bit about our wonderful trip out west. We (my brother and I) flew into Las Vegas late morning on Saturday, June 14. We had a full day in Vegas before hitting the road for the national parks on Monday morning.
We stayed for 2 nights at the Luxor - my brother has always wanted to stay in the pyramid! You take an "inclinator" instead of an elevator to go up to your room, which gives a strange feeling of sideways motion as you go up to the top. He was disappointed that there was no view from the elevator or outside of our room (some of the hallways on the lower floors look down into the center of the pyramid). It was a decent place to stay but seemed a little worn around the edges and not as unique as anticipated. You do have to watch your head if you look out the window because the window is slanted (pyramid, remember).
We ate brunch at the Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood and then walked around a bit, but the 105 degree heat was pretty opressive. I crashed early. The next day we enjoyed two wonderful meals (that I will blog later), wandered around the Venetian Resort and did the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton (silly fun but way over priced).
At night we went downtown to see the Fremont Street Experience. It is a free light and music show that they do once an hour in the downtown area. The show stretches overhead for 3 blocks in an overhead curved canopy and is kinda fun! And it's free - can't beat the price!
We drove back to our hotel up the Strip so we could enjoy the lights and craziness. Here are the lights and the light beam on Luxor.
We both decided that we were "Vegased out" - had seen most of the interesting hotels and attractions. Of course there still are lots of great places to eat, but you can't spend all day and night eating - or at least it probably isn't a healthy option! Coming next - 2 great restaurants that we greatly enjoyed!

The light show at the Luxor looks pretty awesome. It reminds me of a beacon and someone is trying to phone home. I would have hit my head on the windows a few times also because i'm a tall guy who likes to go right to the window. I will be waiting on your two entries on your delicious food and stay cool in the 100+ weather.
